China Foods – Stinky Tofu

My love for Asian food is well known. Sunday I am going back to visit my family in Taiwan and I thought I’ll tell you a little bit of my favorite Asian foods. From street food to fine Peking Duck in China! And of course I will collect lots of new food experiences for you in Taiwan in the next weeks.  #avocadobananetravels

Let’s start with a more advanced street food, stinky tofu, a delicacy that is popular throughout China and Taiwan. The smellier the better it is! The smell on the streets of freshly fried stinky tofu might be a bit too much in the beginning for the normal european nose, but I still recommend it to everyone, at least try it. It wont cost you a lot.

Stinky tofu is fermented in a spiced brine and can have different tastes. I have mostly had it as street food, fried with pickled veggies or different sauces. You can also get it steamed, boiled, stir fried or any delicious way you can think of!

If you’re ever headed to China or Taiwan and smell something weird… well that might just be it!
